Co-invented a thoracic reconstruction system designed to restore structural continuity following resection of the sternum, ribs, and clavicles. The patented technology integrates anatomical reconstruction, fixation strategy, and surgical validation.

Valeria Marin is an American-Colombian biomedical engineer working at the intersection of additive manufacturing, patient-specific medical devices, and surgical innovation.
Her work combines clinical observation, engineering design, and 3D printing to transform unmet surgical needs into technologies that improve patient care. That direction began during clinical rotations, where she designed patient-specific adapters that restored comfort and function for people with arthritis.
Since then, her path has expanded across implant development, high-volume clinical design, entrepreneurship through HUMANBX, and doctoral research in biodegradable metallic implants at Rochester Institute of Technology.
